Remember to drink plenty of water! ?
When it’s cooler, we often forget to keep up our water intake.
Here are some signs you might not be getting enough;
Headaches….your brain is 80% water. When you are dehydrated, your brain tissue loses water, causing brain shrinkage and pain surrounding the brain. Dehydration also lowers blood flow and oxygen to the brain, which can dilate blood vessels and cause swelling and inflammation. Next time you have a headache, try having a glass of water first before reaching for painkillers.
Dry Mouth, Eyes and Skin….we constantly lose fluid from our bodies throughout the day, and replenishing our levels is important. Dryness can occur when we have a lack of moisture in our bodies.
Your Urine is Dark…a less pleasant, but rather more obvious sign of dehydration is darker urine. When your levels of hydration are adequate, the body is more able to flush out toxins through our urine. When we are dehydrated, there is less free water to remove these toxins, making our urine darker.
Feeling Fatigued, Dizzy or Disorientated….can be a sign of dehydration and an imbalance of electrolytes in our system. This happens when toxins aren’t able to be flushed from our bodies for want of fluid. Dehydration also causes a decrease in blood circulation, increasing feelings of fatigue.
Hungry Hungry Hippo…..if you find that you are always hungry, you may just be thirsty. The hypothalamus can confuse thirst with hunger. So, if you have a balanced diet but still looking for food, just check on your water intake.
